Written Competition

The Written Competition consists of two categories. Competitors can participate in either one, or both categories. 

1. Copy Writing 

2.Creative Writing

Rules and Regulations

• There are 2 events in the written competition.
            1. Creative Writing
            2. Copy Writing
• Participation in both events is optional. Any participant can compete in any event accordingly.
• There are 3 age groups.
             1. Junior (2009 – 2011)
             2. Intermediate (2006 – 2008)
             3. Senior (2003 – 2005)
• Unique registration codes are allocated to all competitors of each event. The list of registration codes will be sent to the Official WhatsApp group in due time.
• Please note that the verdict of the judges will be final and the AISELA committee does not hold any responsibility of it.

Creative Writing
• The competition will commence from the 24th of July onwards.
• The respective context for each of the above age groups are given below.
         1. Junior – How I would fight a dragon
         2. Intermediate – Include the following phrase at any place of the story
“It was too late when I realized the truth”
        3. Senior – If I were God
• The word limit for all age groups is 99 Words. Submissions having more or less words may be subjected to disqualification.Titles for the Junior and Senior age groups are not included in the word count. (The nine words in the given sentence for the Intermediate age group are included in the word count) Hyphenated words and contractions are counted as one word. (e.g. state-of-the-art, haven’t)
• The format of the document should be as follows.
▪ Font – Times New Roman
▪ Font size – Heading 14, Body 12
▪ Font colour – Black (only)
▪ Background – White (only)
▪ Allowed file formats – Word documents (.docx)
• Competitors should include their Registration number (e.g. JIS07) and name on the top of the first page of the document.
• Please be sure to rename the document with the Registration code and first name. (e.g. JIS07_Eshan)
• Please use the submission form available in our website to submit entries. The
deadline for submissions is on the 31st of July at 11:59 p.m.
• Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author but ELSL will have the right to publish the winning content in any relevant promotional material.

Copy Writing
• The competition will commence from the 24th of July onwards.
• The selected paragraphs for each age group of this event will be sent to the Official WhatsApp group accordingly.
• Please note that only handwritten work will be accepted and submissions under manuscript (normal) handwriting will be entertained. Submissions violating the rules will be immediately disqualified.
• The submission must be in the PDF format. (Software such as CamScanner can be used for this purpose)
• Please make sure that the edges of the paper are not cropped out. Edges of the paper and the written content should be clearly visible.
• Competitors should write their Registration number (e.g. JIS07) and name on the top of the first page of the document.
• Please be sure to rename the PDF document with the Registration code and first name. (e.g. JIS07_Eshan)
