ELOQUENCE'25
ELOQUENCE, the annual English Language and Literature competition hosted by the All-Island Schools’ English Literary Association, recently concluded its third phase, ELOQUENCE’25, with over 600 student registrations from schools across the island. The contest features a rich array of segments, such as Impromptu Speech, Prepared Speech, Creative Writing, Poetry Writing, Spelling Bee, and Singing, each conducted under the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior categories.
A major highlight in the latest iteration of the competition series is the introduction of “The Champion School” title, awarded to the school with the most winners. The award was bestowed upon Muslim Ladies’ College Colombo, whose outstanding performance was crowned as the ultimate winner of ELOQUENCE’25

Most Popular English Literary Association
Most Popular English Literary Association (MPELA) is a cloud-based interschool competition organised by the AlSELA to designate the most popular English Literary Association among schools island-wide, showcasing the influence and inclusivity of the English Literary Unions.
After a fierce battle, Nalanda College, Colombo, was crowned “The Most Popular English Literary Association” for the year 2025, with Muslim Ladies’ College and Sirimavo Bandaranaike College following as the first and second runners-up.

The English Literature and Language Workshop for Grade 9
Foundation for O/L English Literature is a preparatory English Literature seminar led by the CEO of ELSL, Mr Ravi Gunawardane. Designed for grade 9 students, the project imparts a comprehensive overview of the G.C.E. Ordinary Level syllabus by familiarising students with major literary concepts while nurturing a passion and interest towards English language and literature.

O/L English Literature: Special Seminar
AISELA conducted a specialized literature seminar aimed at supporting students facing their O/L examination. The session focused on providing in-depth analysis of literary texts, essential exam techniques, and interactive discussions to enhance their comprehension and critical thinking skills. This initiative was designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and confidence to excel in their literature exam.



Synergia:
Leadership & Team Fusion
Synergia Leadership and Team Fusion was an AISELA initiative aimed at strengthening teamwork and enhancing leadership skills among members. Through interactive activities and collaborative sessions, the project fostered a spirit of unity, allowing participants to lead effectively and work cohesively toward shared goals.




Project Begin 2025
BEGIN 2025 was an annual project done by AISELA, where committee members came together to organize engaging English-related activities for the children at Sri Jinananda Children’s Home. This project aimed to enhance the kids’ language skills through interactive learning while promoting a love for the English language in a fun and supportive environment.



AISELA Induction
2024/25
AISELA induction 2024/25 was a significant event where the executive committee members for the years 2024/25 were officially inducted. This ceremony marked the beginning of a new leadership journey, recognizing the dedication of the newly appointed members and setting the stage for a year of impactful literary initiatives.




Project Begin 2023
BEGIN 2023, AISELA’s annual outreach initiative, focused on enriching the English skills of the children at Jayawickrama Children’s Home. Through engaging activities and interactive sessions, the committee members provided a supportive and enjoyable learning environment, encouraging the kids to develop their language abilities with confidence.

AISELA Induction
2023/24
The AISELA Induction 2023/24 served as the second annual induction ceremony for the executive committee members of the All Island English Literary Association. This event continued the tradition of welcoming new leaders to steer the association, ensuring its continued growth and success.



English Day Workshop
The English workshop organized by Ananda College in partnership with AISELA focused on improving the English language abilities of its students. The event offered an engaging platform for students to strengthen their skills and gain confidence in using English effectively.



Eloquence '23
ELOQUENCE’23 was an all-island English language competition organized by AISELA, aimed at showcasing the linguistic talents of students across the island. The event provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their speaking, writing, and critical thinking skills in English.
